Madonna’s new Mexico City gym gets OK to open

Mexican authorities have given Madonna’s fitness club the green light to open after saying the gym was in danger of being shut down because it lacked several permits.
Authorities in the Miguel Hidalgo district, where the gym is located, said Wednesday that the legal representatives of the singer’s Hard Candy Fitness had presented all the missing documents and the gym is free to begin operating.
Earlier Wednesday, Demetrio Sodi, Miguel Hidalgo’s chief, had said the posh new gym lacked a security plan, a certificate showing it has parking and a land use permit. Sodi said he granted a special permit for the gym’s opening ceremony Monday night even though it “didn’t have any permits.”
Madonna attended the ribbon-cutting and taught a dance class for 20 hand-picked gym members with music by Paul Oakenfold, the DJ who opened her last tour.
Madonna said in a statement last week that she wanted to use Mexico City “as a place to fine-tune our brand and then expand it to other countries and, in the long term, develop a global brand that includes the United States.”

Madonna Celebrates Hard Candy Fitness In Mexico

Madonna arrived in Mexico City last evening to celebrate the opening of her first Hard Candy Fitness Center. The neighborhood was packed and a lot of fans were there to welcome her!

After posing for photographers and answering the journalists’ questions on the red carpet, Madonna traded her trendy dress and boots for workout clothes and joined some of the center’s members for an exclusive Fitness training lesson.

Later in the night, guests got to keep on “rocking their body” by dancing to Paul Oakenfold’s tunes. Another special moment shared with the Queen of Pop, some of her dancers and friends.

Madonna To Open Second Hard Candy Fitness Center In Moscow

New York, NY - December 8, 2010 -- For Immediate Release - Madonna in partnership with her manager Guy Oseary and Mark Mastrov, Chairman of New Evolution Ventures (NeV), announced the opening of the second Hard Candy Fitness Center in Moscow which is projected to open in mid-March 2011.

The new facility will be a beautifully designed and unique 35,000 square foot space located near Red Square. Moscow’s Hard Candy Fitness will also include a partnership with Irina Razumova, founder of the well know Russian chain Planet Fitness. The news of the Moscow location comes on the heels of a successful grand opening for the brand’s premiere location last week in Mexico City, which featured a special dance class taught by Madonna.

“It’s especially exciting to have the second Hard Candy Fitness open in Moscow as I really enjoyed the city and the people when I visited during my ‘Sticky & Sweet Tour.’ Working in collaboration with the experts at NeV and Irina, I know that we will create the ideal workout environment in Moscow that represents my health and fitness philosophy as well as include innovative and inspiring programs,” commented Madonna.

Mastrov, his partner Jim Rowley of NeV, along with Madonna and Oseary are in the planning stages of opening 10 additional Hard Candy locations in Russia, Brazil, Argentina, Europe and Asia. They are currently exploring opportunities around the globe for facilities that will offer a unique member experience in all aspects including curriculum, environment and fashion.

Throughout her career, Madonna has been devoted to fitness and well being. Having worked out in hundreds of gyms around the world, she developed a strong vision on what the ideal exercise, dance and workout environment should look like. The vision took shape during an initial meeting between Mark Mastrov, the innovator behind some of the World’s best known Fitness Brands and Guy Oseary early in 2008. Mastrov has built a fitness empire of over 1100 clubs in over 20 countries. "Our goal is to create an environment around the world inspired by Madonna's vision and high standards. Hard Candy Fitness Centers will be a reflection of Madonna's point of view and will reveal her input on every detail including music, design and class curriculum. Madonna's touch will be everywhere," stated Mastrov.

The Moscow Hard Candy Fitness Center along with others in the planning stages will include proprietary Hard Candy Fitness programming inspired by Madonna and her dance team, a Bike Studio as well as a Mind Body Studio, featuring The Great Wall, where members can practice BarWorks, Sculpting, Capoeira and the newest trends in Yoga. It will also house a healthy alternative Juice Bar/Café and lavish locker rooms.

Members will benefit from state of the art cardiovascular equipment with personal viewing screens, more than 60 pieces of strength equipment/free weights and the best group fitness, functional training accessories using brands including Precor, Marpo Kinetics, Hoist, Free Motion, StarTrac and TRX suspension training. “We are so excited and honored to be able to open the Hard Candy Fitness brand here in Moscow. Madonna has been an inspiration for us all and we can’t wait to bring this beautiful facility to life,” said Irina Razumova, partner with Hard Candy Fitness and NeV

Brahim Zaibat Says Madonna is “Just A Woman”

Madonna is “just a woman”, according to her new boyfriend.
The ‘Celebration’ singer started dating French dancer Brahim Zaibat just over a month ago, and the hunk insists despite her international pop star status she was not imposing, and their meeting was perfectly natural.
He explained, “It all started on September 22 at the launch of Madonna’s new ready-to-wear clothing range.
“I performed a solo to ‘Material Girl’. Then I met Madonna on the sidelines, and she just thanked me for my show.
“It wasn’t like meeting a monster! She’s just a woman, like all the others. She’s an extraordinary artist and world famous, of course, but a woman above all.
“You know she wasn’t the first well known female singer I’d met. I was delighted to meet her but not stressed out.”

Madonna continues to dance with Brahim Zaibat

Madonna is still going strong with her latest boy toy. Her Madgesty, 52, and dancer Brahim Zaibat, 24, were spotted at the Ava Penthouse Lounge at the Dream Hotel on Thursday night.
A source told us, “Madonna showed up to help celebrate her kabbalah teacher, Eithan Yardeni. But she brought some of her dancers, including Brahim. They hung out drinking Veuve Clicquot Rose until 1 a.m.” Zaibat met Madonna in September, when he was dancing at the launch of her and daughter Lourdes’ line of clothes at Macy’s.

Isabella Rossellini on Madonna’s Sex Book

Lastly, I’d be a failure as a gay man if I didn’t ask you about Madonna’s Sex book. It’s been almost 20 years since you were shot for it — looking back, what do you think of the book now?
I was working a lot with the photographer Steven Meisel. I didn’t know Madonna and Madonna had approached Steven to do a book about sex. And of course, sex is very interesting. Even me, when I’m making my own little films, I address how animals have sex. It’s very interesting, sex. And Steven was tempted — instead of doing a book about all his photos he did for Vogue and all the past photos as a résumé of his life — to do something challenging. So I thought he had a point. Sex is interesting. But I don’t think the book worked, even though the photos were extraordinary and some of them quite memorable. I think there was a little bit of a moralistic sort of “I’ll teach you how to be free!” and that bothered the hell out of me. Because I think if you want to practice abstinence and that makes you happy, you are OK. If you want to be gay, that’s OK. If you want to screw anything that moves, that’s OK. It’s funny to use the word moralistic for that book because people probably don’t put those together, but it was a little bit of “I know better!” and didn’t like that.

Jean-Paul Gaultier on Madonna/Gaga

on Gaga:
“I think she’s talented and very inpolitically incorrect, which I love. But I also think that she read up on Madonna’s life and learnt it like the Bible.”
…the corsets he designed that year for Madonna’s world tour now rank alongside Marilyn Monroe’s white halter-neck dress and Audrey Hepburn’s black Givenchy LBD in fashion iconography. Did he realise how important they would be at the time?
“No,” he shrugs. “I was a fan of Madonna’s so I was pleased to collaborate with her for that reason – not because it would be good for my career.”

Andrea Riseborough: ‘I bonded with Madonna over geekiness’

…next up is Wallis Simpson in WE, directed by Madonna. What was it like to be directed by a pop idol? “Of course I knew who Madonna was,” she says, “but when I met her I was just having a cup of tea with someone because I wanted to see how interested we both were. She’s a total geek about it, just like me. We bonded over geekiness.”

Fug Madness 2010, Round One: Madonna Bracket

If I had to guess, I'd say she's on her way to a yacht owned by the Mother Superior of an incredibly old Italian convent, who also happens to be the nation's leading authority on granny panties. But it's as likely she's being thrown in a dank underground brig for crimes against fabric. I'm pretty sure we would've had to watch a telethon about that, though.
It may seem unfair to pit poor little semi-anonymous Melody Thornton of the Pussycat Dolls against a musical force of nature like Madonna, but they have more in common than you might think:

Fug Madness 2010, Round Two: Madonna Bracket

Hee. I laugh every time I see that expression on her face. Bless you, Chloe. You crack me up.

Enough friendliness! Let's get into the meat of this:

Hmmmmmmmmmm: Madonna

MADGE: Lola, follow me, dearest.

LOURDES: Are you people seeing this?

MADGE: Do come along, now.

LOURDES: When did my mother turn into a MUM? That woman wore a leotard and a top hat not that long ago, and now she's wearing a TRENCH COAT with shoes she borrowed from Queen Elizabeth? It's so ... sedate, and appropriate.

MADGE: Don't dilly-dally, darling. Chop-chop.

LOURDES: Like, when you're in a photo with Madonna, and the weirdest thing happening is that you YOURSELF are wearing a dress with flailing people on the hem and threadbare tights that may have been laundered in acid, shit has gone APE, is all I'm saying.

MADGE: Watch your language, Lola. Young ladies do not use such blue words.

LOURDES: Wait, maybe she's secretly naked under that thing.

MADGE: LOLA. WELL I NEVER.

LOURDES. Sigh. Never mind. SNORE. Wake me when she brandishes a bull-whip.
