Paris Hilton appeared in a Nevada courtroom on Monday and pleaded guilty to two misdemeanor charges following her arrest in Las Vegas last month.
The judge ordered the socialite to do a year of probation, complete a drug abuse program, pay a $2000 fine and serve 200 hours of community service. If Hilton, 29, fails to comply with these orders and is arrested for anything more than a traffic violation, she could face a year in jail.
The heiress pled guilty to drug possession and obstructing an officer. Paris admitted that the purse containing cocaine that was retrieved by a police officer that night was in fact hers, though she denied it at the time.
Back in August, a police officer pulled over Hilton and her boyfriend Cy Waits on the Las Vegas strip after the officer smelled marijuana smoke and "followed the vapor trail" to the vehicle, which was being driven by Waits.
Later, police officers saw "a small amount" of cocaine fall out of Hilton's purse. "Miss Hilton pulled out a tube of lip balm," Sheahan tells the news agency. "At the same time ... a bundle of cocaine in a plastic bag came out of her purse." The socialite was then arrested on suspicion of felony cocaine possession near the Wynn resort.
