Paris Hilton Detained in Japan

Paris Hilton can't run away from her problems. "The Insider" confirms the heiress is being detained in Tokyo, Japan, after she plead guilty in Nevada on Monday to two misdemeanors including a drug charge.
Paris, 29, was stopped by immigration officials at Tokyo's Narita airport following her arrival into the country on a business trip. The socialite tweeted earlier that day, writing: "On my way to my Asia to debut my Fall/Winter Collections. So excited to see all my fans. First stop - Tokyo." She also linked to a story detailing her Asian tour that would unveil her upcoming clothing collection.
Due to Paris' recent drug charges and sentence, authorities in Japan were considering refusing her entry into the country, People.com reports. A rep for the heiress commented to "The Insider" on the situation, saying, "Paris was contractually bound to her business trip and didn't want to let down her brands and many Asian fans. She intended on fulfilling her contract and is trying hard to do the responsible thing, but this is beyond her control. She is very disappointed by tonight's events."
Paris is reportedly staying at an airport hotel, waiting for the issue to be resolved. A source close to Paris tells "The Insider" that "the group is exhausted after a 14 hour flight to Japan and then a seven hour delay at immigration."
Upon arrival into the country, Paris posted a pic, as seen above, with a caption that read: "Just landed in Tokyo with my BFF/Sis @NickyHilton."
On Monday, Paris pled guilty to drug possession and obstructing an officer. The judge ordered the socialite to do a year of probation, complete a drug abuse program, pay a $2000 fine and serve 200 hours of community service. If Hilton, 29, fails to comply with these orders and is arrested for anything more than a traffic violation, she could face a year in jail.

  1. This is an excellent example immigration officials doing their jobs and enforcing the law. Thanks to their vigilance an unwanted foreigner was intercepted at an port of entry before becoming just another illegal alien with a criminal record.
